Fighting Corruption

Corruption fuels authoritarianism, transforming public institutions into tools for personal gain and consolidating power in the hands of a privileged few.

We go on offense working to expose and fight against corruption. Through FOIA requests and public records investigations, we shine a light on  abuses of power. With systemic reforms and litigation, we challenge conflicts of interest and unethical practices to achieve a more transparent government.

• Our Policy, Oversight, and Ethics team has published reports that shine a light on the Trump administration’s corruption, including: 

  • Autocracy vs. Democracy in America: The First 100 Days, highlighting the wins of pro-democracy forces in the first 100 days of the Trump administration. 

  • American Autocracy Threat Tracker, a comprehensive catalog based on Donald Trump and his associates' plans, promises, and propositions to erode our democratic principles. 

• We have endorsed legislation and called on Congress to introduce anti-corruption measures, including restoring public trust by banning congressional representatives from owning or trading stocks and curbing Trump’s conflicts of interest with crypto anti-corruption guardrails. 

• With partners, Democracy Defenders Action released Freedom 2025 - 10 Principles, a series of cross-partisan commitments to advance American freedoms and oppose governmental corruption.
