Protecting Elections
Democracy relies on free and fair elections. Election subversion is on the rise —from attempts to throw out ballots, discredit results, and manipulate electoral outcomes. These attacks aim to destabilize our democratic process and sow public distrust.
We work across party lines to combat these threats through collaborating with community-led state and local partners, funding critical efforts on the ground to protect elections, and running bespoke campaigns designed to defeat efforts to undermine confidence in elections. Alongside bipartisan coalitions and subject-matter experts, we also litigate voter intimidation cases, advocate for transparent vote counting, and defend the certification process.

We represent the largest Latino civil rights group (LULAC) to protect the Prop 50 map to ensure representation for majority Latino districts in California.

In November 2024, our legal and policy team along with LULAC released The Big Lie of 2024 aka La Gran Mentira: Exposing Anti-Immigrant Election Lie, a comprehensive analysis of Donald Trump' and his allies' efforts to push a disinformation campaign based on lies about immigrants and voting.

With partners, Democracy Defenders Action released Freedom 2025 - 10 Principles, a series of cross-partisan commitments to advance American freedoms and protect free and fair elections.
