RULE OF LAW UPHELD AS KENNEDY CENTER REMOVES UNLAWFUL TRUMP NAME FROM BUILDING

Statement | June 13, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Following are statements from Rep. Joyce Beatty and her counsel regarding the removal of Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center building.

Rep. Joyce Beatty:

“Today’s victory is the beginning of returning the Kennedy Center to the American people. The rule of law prevailed, and that is worth celebrating. Let this send a message across the country: when we stand up, fight back, and defend our democracy, we can win. This is just the beginning.”

Norm Eisen of Democracy Defenders Action, and Nathaniel Zelinsky of the Washington Litigation Group:

“The removal of Donald Trump's name proves that the rule of law is more powerful than his ego. We will continue to hold this administration accountable in the courts–and the court of public opinion. The restoration of this building is visible proof that we can take back our democratic institutions.”
